Business Description
The Vegetal Grow Development (VGD) brand was launched in 2017 in Châteaurenard in Provence, by 3 young entrepreneurs, having detected revolutionary opportunities for improving horticultural lighting. The goal is to invent an innovative cultivation method that reconciles productivity, taste quality and sustainable development.
Under pressure from the agro-food market to always produce more, with better products, closer to the consumer and by promoting natural solutions, VGD appears to be an ideal solution. Indeed, it is 100% natural, very low in energy, limits inputs while maximizing taste properties and allows local re-establishment of crops that would not grow without this solution.
This maximizes the supply of light for plants, while reducing energy consumption thanks to artificial intelligence. This solution makes it possible to light crops with controllable LEDs (by type of crop, by stage of growth, by level of sunshine in real time, or even according to other parameters necessary for growth) and generate productivity gains of 30 to 500%, while improving taste properties.
This solution was immediately recognized by the experts and professionals of the sector, since the team of now 8 people has succeeded in obtaining the confidence in less than a year of leaders of the sector throughout the value chain: seed companies, industrial producers or independent farmers, renowned plant R&D centers, agro-food manufacturers, etc.
Vegetal Grow Development is then the 1st player of French origin in terms of “Grow Lighting” or intelligent lighting and the 3rd company in terms of presence on the French market.
The Vegetal Grow Development intelligent horticultural lighting solution has been marketed since 2018 and used by reference companies such as: HM Clause, Saveol, Vilmorin, In vivo, Syngenta, Mairie de Paris as well as major independent producers. It was also awarded at SIVAL in 2018 and 2020 when it was launched and then in collaboration with CTIFL at the SIVAL Innovation competition in the “Services and software” category. The CTIFL (Interprofessional Technical Center for Fruits and Vegetables) is a co-development partner that reinforces VGD expertise in growing tomatoes and cucumbers.
Thanks to its network of international partners (installers, greenhouse operators, distributors, technological partners, suppliers of agro-climatic solutions, etc.) the solutions offered are available on 5 continents.
